Nan Cronin McCloskey (1923-1987)

To all who ever knew her, Nan was a beautiful person in every way possible.

She had a noticeable twinkle in her eyes and it was there constantly. It was more than a twinkle, really – her eyes smiled with a quiet friendship and unmistakable happiness whenever she spoke.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Nan McCloskey understood why that twinkle was there and loved her for it.

She was like most of us in many respects – a proud parent, a devoted wife, and a good mother. But it didn’t end there.

Nan loved children so much that, in addition to raising her own family of nine, she made caring for youngsters a profession.

Somehow, she always found time for others. Her deepest satisfaction came from offering her help to those who needed her most.

She volunteered her services regularly to a number of worthwhile charitable causes but never said no if her help was requested by others. As a neighbor, she was always first to come to the aid of a family in need.

She was the beloved Nana to a growing hoard of grandchildren and remains an influence on their lives to this day.

Nan made a lasting impression on all she met and many times became the difference maker in their lives. She welcomed everyone with open arms and a warm smile that brought a ray of sunshine and hope into the lives of many.

Most of all she cared – about her family, her community, and others more than she cared about herself.

Nan’s Kids Foundation is dedicated to continuing Nan’s vocation to make an impactful difference in the community.
